Ragnarok Odyssey Ace Makes Its Way To PS3 and Vita April 1st

XSSED’s “expansion” of Ragnaro Odyssey, which is a new game all together called Ragnarok Odyssey ACE, will be released April 1st here in North America.

This new version takes the original Ragnarok Odyssey from Vita and PS3 and adds new content and features (including a 400-floor Tower once you each the midpoint of the game, which was originally the end of the original version.)

The game supports cross-play and trophy share. Also, those who have characters from the original version are allowed to transfer them to ACE but need to un-equip any cards and outfits on as they won’t transfer over.

The PS3 version will be a retail and digital release for $39.99 while the Vita will have a physical collector’s edition, which includes a soundtrack cd, for $39.99. The digital release for the Vita version of ACE will be $34.99.

Ragnarok Odyssey ACE Coming In 2014 To PS3 and Vita

Remember the monster-owning beautiful looking Ragnarok Odyssey that released on Vita? Yes well, there will be a re-release/expanded version of it being released in early 2014 and it is called Ragnarok Odyssey ACE. This game will be for both PS3 and Vita.

XSEED, the game’s publisher, notes that “Ragnarok Odyssey ACE is a full game — a revised and expanded version of the original Ragnarok Odyssey.” It will allow cross-play between the two platforms and cost $39.99, but no word on cross-buy 😦 . Did you make an awesome character in Ragnarok Odyssey and want them to be carried over? GOOD NEWS! Characters in Ragnarok Odyssey can be imported to ACE, and the original game’s DLC will also work in the new game, free of charge. If you were on the fence of this game, then it might be a good thing to either wait for this game to launch then buy the DLC or, if you feel the itch to kill some monsters, buy Ragnarok Odyssey and start your character and legacy there then transfer it over. ACE’s Vita version will ship with a bonus soundtrack CD, with 25 songs. Here is some more information from Ryan Graff of XSEED:

“Players with existing Ragnarok Odyssey saves can import their character’s physical appearance, voice, job class, and cards (except for those equipped to clothing at the time of the transfer — those don’t carry over, and neither do cards acquired by “near”). If you’ve downloaded any of the original game’s DLC, you can bring it over to ACE just by re-downloading it from PlayStation Store.

New players and returning veterans will both take the campaign from the top, but that’s because there’s new content throughout the main story. Likewise, there are new Trophies to earn, so your Trophies from the original will stay with the original while ACE offers more Trophies for your collection.

So what kinds of new content are we talking about? To begin with, there are new skills, items, and quests, including a new 100-floor dungeon called the Tower of Yggdrasil. More than that, we’ll be bringing over the Japanese version’s expansion patches. The 1.10 patch, which launches in Japan this week, adds new features including daily quests, online rankings, log-in bonuses, random card draws, and special rare random card draws. Our version won’t launch with it, but we’ll be releasing the patch as free post-launch content, so players will have some new features to look forward to after launch.”

Sounds like ACE will be a great game for both original game owners and new-comers alike. As someone who has played the first one, I will for sure buy this once it is available to pre-order. This and Soul Sacrifice make up for no Monster Hunter on Sony consoles 😦
