MLB 14: The Show Plays Ball April 1st On PS3 and Vita; PS4 Version In May

The next installment of “The Show” baseball series is set to begin the season on April 1st for PS3 and Vita while the PS4 version will swing for the fences in May.

Sony Computer Entertainment San Diego Studio’s is touting 50 new features and PS4 will run 1080P/60FPS. Thanks to PlayStation Blog, here are some of the new features

  • Community Challenges put the power of creation in the hands of gamers. Baseball scenarios — be they moments from history, situations snatched from the present, or something altogether new — can be easily generated, customized, and shared online.
  • An expanded, smarter Universal Profile now tracks player tendency. Train your Profile and sub it into Diamond Dynasty games to give your human opponent a better matchup than just the CPU.
  • Online Franchise expands upon Online Leagues of seasons past, introducing multi-season play with Scouting, the Amateur Draft, Free Agency, and CPU Trades.
  • We’re simplifying add-on purchases from seasons past, rolling everything into a Universal Currency we’re calling Stubs. We want to be very clear with this, however, since it’s a frequent question and concern among the community: not one cent needs to be spent on Stubs for users to enjoy a full experience in any of our modes.
  • What’s more, Stubs are earned through general gameplay (just like XP) and tied to your Universal Profile. Most importantly, the rate at which Stubs are earned is intentionally generous. We are not designing the system to pressure players into spending money. It will be the same system it’s been in years prior, just all rolled together with a new name.
  • Last but certainly not least, this year brings the debut of MLB 14 The Show on PS4. The PS4 is the most powerful gaming console ever made. There’s so much horsepower for us to take advantage of to make the most realistic, best-playing, most authentic baseball video game ever.

The above is FAR from all of the improvements in this year’s game. Look for us to release a comprehensive list later this month detailing all the new features and enhancements in MLB 14 The Show.

Murasaki Baby Confirmed For US Release This Year

Gamescom 2013 we were introduced to a very strange, yet cute game called Murasaki Baby. This game, developed by Ovosonico, has you guide Baby through a dream world by holding her hand and traversing the land.

Yes, you literally must hold her hand using touchscreen, as well as use the front and rear touch abilites to save her from running into danger, swapping backgrounds to complete puzzles and to also solve other puzzles (all shown in the video above.)

Originally announced as a European release, it is now confirmed via PlayStation Blog that Murasaki Baby is coming to North America. No release date or price, but 2014 and a confirmation of a US release date is good enough for now.

God Of War Collection and Sly Cooper Collection Coming To PS Vita In May

Vita is looking to be reborn in 2014 and is off to a hot start. Already being able to Remote Play most PS4 games on it, getting more ports, exclusives and even the new PS Slim, the first-party games are still rolling in.

God of War Collection is making its way to the Vita and is re-mastered in HD for the Vita (much like the PS3 brethren.) God of War Collection, which contains God of War 1 and 2, will release May 6th, 2014 for $29.99

The Sly Cooper Collection, which contains Sly 1, 2 and 3 and also Vita-HD remastered, will be releasing May 27th (presumably $29.99 as well)

Slim PS Vita Coming To The US This Spring; Being Bundled With Borderlands 2 Vita and 8GB Memory Card

ps vita slim bl2 bundle

The Slim PS Vita has officially announced to be coming to America this Spring. The Slim PS Vita is 20% slimmer, 15% lighter, trades the beautiful OLED screen for a 5″ HD LED screen, is WI-FI only, and has 1GB built-in memory.

If you think this is nice (or still need incentive) then here you go, it is being bundled together with the highly-anticipated Vita version of Borderlands 2, 6 DLC packs for BL2 and an 8GB memory card for the current price of $199.99. The 6 DLC packs included are: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Psycho Character Class, Mechromancer Character Class, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1 and the Collector’s Edition Pack.

While the PS Vita Slim has launched with several colors in Japan, there is only the black model coming over (hopefully more later on!) Also, finally, the Vita version of Borderlands 2 has a release time so we can download it separate if we already have a Vita and aren’t looking to upgrade to the Slim. No price on the Borderlands 2 price.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Announced For PS3 and Vita; PS3 Special Edition

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is being released for both PS3 and Vita this year, Aksys Games announced to PlayStation Blog. The PS3 version is set to release March 25th, 2014 in NA while the Vita version is Summer of 2014 for NA. Aksys also mentioned some new changes and additions coming to both versions of the game as well

  • Overdrive Ability: this allows you to “amplify” your overall abilites and skills for a small period of time to either get yourself out of a pinch or to end a match with complete dominance
  • Online Mode: Online Mode will bring back the customizable lobbies as well as add public/private chats and Entry Mode, which allows you to “play through the various single-player options while waiting for online challengers”
  • 7 new characters will be added with their own play-styles, mythology in the universe and challenge modes: Amane Nishiki, Bullet, Azrael, Izayoi, Yuuki Terumi, Kagura Mutsuki, and Kokonoe (Kokonoe is a paid DLC, sadly) but this brings the roster to 26 fighters!
  • All DLC is cross-compatible but the game isn’t cross-buy
  • An extra Story Mode featuring Ragna, Noel, Celica and Kagura
  • Abyss Mode is “enhanced in a number of weird and wondrous ways!”

The PS3 version also is getting a Special Edition which includes:

  • The game (duh)
  • an art book
  • soundtrack disk
  • a move guide to help you learn the sweet moves
  • a blu-ray disk containing developer interviews, an episode of Bururaji H and the first episode of Alter Memory
  • a Rachel Alucard figurine

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Release Dates

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends will be releasing in a couple different flavors. First off, the PS3 version of Xtreme Legends 8 will launch March 25th in North America and April 4th in Europe.

Second, the PS4 and Vita versions, being dubbed Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Collector’s Edition, will also launch March 25th in North America and April 4th in Europe. The Collector’s Edition for PS4 and Vita will include both Dynasty Warriors 8 and Xtreme Legends: Dynasty Warriors 8.

Xtreme Legends 8 adds new stories focusing on Lu Bu, brings in 5 new characters (now 82 in all), an expanded Ambition Mode, Challenge Mode, Free Mode enhancements to include “Ultimate” difficulty.

It will also offer “multiple hypothetical scenarios that alter the plot-lines of various episodes through the ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ story” Tecmo Koei added.

Thanks, Gematsu
